The initiative includes 14 registries of demographic, clinical, procedural and outcomes information on more than 670,000 vascular interventions completed in the U.S. and in Canada. The data allows vascular centers to compare and improve their performance based on regional and national benchmarks.

Participating vascular centers receive one to three stars based on the level and quality of their participation in the registries and use of the data for quality improvement initiatives.

“Hard-working, dedicated organizations such as UC Davis Vascular Center are key to the success of the vascular registries,” said VQI Medical Director Jens Eldrup-Jorgensen. “The work we do to build and maintain the registries for researcher use is crucial to health and outcomes for vascular patients. Like the old saying says, ‘if you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it.’”
