Welcome to the UC Davis Children’s Hospital CAARE Center’s Trauma Training Academy (TTA) Forum. The goal of the TTA Forum is to answer questions, share resources, and provide updated clinical work and research to help improve services for commercially sexually exploited youth in Sacramento County. In order to have access to the TTA Forum, you must attend a TTA Training. If you are interested in attending a training, please click here.

What is the Trauma Training Academy?
The Trauma Training Academy is a portion of the UC Davis Children’s Hospital CAARE center. The mission of the Trauma Training Academy is to reduce long-term traumatic effects in children, youth, and their families exposed to violence and abuse by educating mental health professionals and support staff in evidence-based trauma-sensitive interventions through specialized trainings and consultations The Trauma Training Academy provides training and consultation on trauma-sensitive systems and interventions; trauma treatment; sexually exploited youth; and compassion fatigue.
What are the goals of the Trauma Training Academy?
The goal of the TTA is to increase the use of evidenced-based assessment, treatment and advocacy for children, youth and families who have experienced a traumatic event. A secondary goal is to help clinicians and support workers serving traumatized youth and families feel confident and competent in providing effective and quality services.
What trainings are available?
Below is a list of possible training options. These options will be offered throughout the year at various days/times. If you are interested in any of the below trainings, please contact Dr. Liles or Dr. Blacker.
- 2-day TF-CBT Training + 12 hours of consultation
- 1 day Advanced Clinical Interventions for Sexually Exploited Youth + 12 hours of consultation
- 1 day Advanced Interventions for Support Staff working with Sexually Exploited Youth
- 1 day Advanced TF-CBT Training: Trauma Narration Implementation & Cognitive Processing
- 3 hour Advanced TF-CBT Training: Working with LGTBQ+ Youth
- 3 hour Advanced TF-CBT Training: Complex Trauma
- 1 day Compassion Fatigue Training
- 3-hour Compassion Fatigue Training
- 3-hour Trauma-Sensitive Interventions for Caregivers of Sexually Exploited Youth
- 1 day Clinical Interventions for Caregivers of Sexually Exploited Youth
- Trauma and Psychosis: Clinical Interventions for Dual Diagnosis
Are trainings free?
Currently, if you are a provider serving Medi-cal youth under a contract with the County of Sacramento Behavioral Health you are eligible to receive free training. Trainings are offered several times per year and topics will vary although all trainings will be focused on serving traumatized populations including commercially sexually exploited youth.
If you are not in Sacramento county or not covered under a contract with County of Sacramento, you will need to purchase training for your agency. If you are interested in receiving the above trainings, please contact either Drs. Blacker or Liles for budget proposals.
How do I enroll in a TTA Training?
TTA Trainings will be offered throughout the year. You can check this website or the TF-CBT Marketplace to enroll in TTA Trainings. Some TTA trainings have specific eligibility and enrollment requirements.
How do I get access to the TTA Forum?
In order to gain access to the TTA Forum, you need to have attended a TTA Training. You will be provided details about how to access the TTA Forum at your TTA Training. If you have attended a TTA Training, have followed the steps, and cannot gain access to the forum or not sure if your training was under TTA, please email Dr. Liles for clarification.
How do I ask a question on the Forum?
If you have attended a TTA training and would like to submit a resource or ask a question on the TTA forum, please click on the QUESTIONS tab and follow the instructions.
How do I make a referral for a Commercially Sexually Exploited Youth?
This is dependent on what health insurance the youth, young adult, or adult has. If you need help with referrals in the County of Sacramento please contact UCD CAARE Center social worker Jenny Landini at email@example.com.
