Su-Ting Li, vice chair of education and residency program director in the UC Davis Department of Pediatrics, has received the Robert S. Holm, M.D. Leadership Award. She accepted the honor this month at the annual spring meeting for the Association of Pediatric Program Directors’ (APPD) in San Diego.  

This award honors one APPD member each year for extraordinary contributions in leadership and support of other program leaders as a mentor, advisor or role model at the organization’s national level.

“I am so honored and touched to receive this award from my incredible mentees and amazing medical education colleagues,” Li said. “I love learning from and being inspired by our next generation of future leaders in medical education – and I’m so grateful to be part of their journey.”

Susan Guralnick, the UC Davis Health associate dean for graduate medical education and professor of pediatrics, attended the spring meeting and was proud to see Li receive a standing ovation.

“Dr. Li's national impact on pediatric graduate medical education has been broad. She is a role model in the domain of educational research and scholarship,” Guralnick said. She called Li a “consummate educator” who helped develop, implement, and was chair of the APPD’s Leadership in Educational Academic Development Council. The council is a nationally recognized program for pediatric medical education leaders who engage and learn from seasoned program directors, pediatric educators, and other national leaders in pediatrics.

Satyan Lakshminrusimha, chair of pediatrics, congratulated Li for the award.

“Dr. Li makes us proud every day. She is a champion of resident and fellow engagement and wellness and is so deserving of this acknowledgement,” Lakshminrusimha said.

The APPD serves pediatric programs by leading the advancement of medical education, the development of a diverse workforce, the cultivation of an inclusive clinical learning environment and the promotion of educational innovation and research.
