Senior Writer Belinda Martineau joined the Center for Healthcare Policy and Research (CHPR) in October 2017. Belinda has been working at UC Davis since 2006, first as a Principal Editor with the Genome Center and, more recently, as the Grant Writer for the UC Davis Institute for Social Sciences. She has extensive experience in helping researchers write grant applications, journal manuscripts, theses, and articles about scientific issues for lay audiences. She is available to help faculty affiliated with CHPR identify funding opportunities appropriate for their research and write the narrative sections of their grant applications.

Skill Set

  • Researching funding sources (using databases, agency and foundation web sites, search engines, etc.)
  • Framing grant proposals to best reflect what a particular sponsor is looking for and other writing for specific audiences
  • Editing proposal narratives for logical flow, clarity (and to minimize jargon), succinctness and to ensure that all sponsor requirements are met
