Course description

The Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON) Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course provides a comprehensive review of the knowledge needed to administer cytotoxic and biotherapeutic agents.

Upon successful completion of the course and post-test, participants will receive an APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Card. This card validates that the participant has completed the education and demonstrated the knowledge needed to administer chemotherapy and biotherapy agents to pediatric patients.

It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure their provider status is renewed with APHON every 2 years on or before the provider card expiration. Information regarding the online renewal process is found on the APHON website.

Course materials

The The Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Curriculum is included in the registration fee.

Prerequisite

Participants must be licensed registered nurses. This course content is appropriate for nurses who are new to pediatric/ adolescent chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, as well as for those who want a comprehensive review.

C.E. contact hours

APHON will award 13.75 contact hours to nurses who attend this program in its entirety. APHON is approved as a provider of continuing nursing education by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number 14513.

APHON is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Attendees must attend both days to receive C.E. credit. Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late on either day; no partial credit can be awarded.

Registration deadline

A $20 late fee will be charged for registrations received less than 2 weeks prior to the course date.

UC Davis employees

$95 registration fee.

Community registrants

$170 registration fee for community nurses.

Refund policy

Cancellation must be requested fourteen days prior to class to receive a full refund or deposit. A $50 service fee will be charged after this date. If the provider cancels the course a full refund will be provided.

Additional information

The APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Course is NOT a certification course, and is not intended to measure competency. Individual institutions are responsible for determining their own requirements for assessing clinical competency.

This program contains discussion of off-label uses (products used for a purpose other than that for which it was approved by the FDA). All disclosures will be mentioned at the beginning of the course.

Parking

Education Buliding: Parking is available in parking lots 4, 12 and 17 with a UC Davis parking permit. A daily permit is available for purchase for $6 from the kiosks in lots 14 (2nd Ave. & 45th St.) and 18 (49th St. & V St.) or through the Flowbird Parking app.

MIND Instittue: Parking is available in lot 25 on 50th Street next to the MIND Institute. Park with a UC Davis parking permit, or purchase a daily permit for $6 from the kiosk or through the Flowbird Parking app.
