This class is restricted to Children's Hospital and float RNs.
This course is designed for neonatal, maternal or pediatric nurses to assist neonates/newborns with developmental challenges to achieve optimal nutrition through breastfeeding. This class will cover infant hypoglycemia, feeding challenges with cleft lip/palate, and how to asses infant stress cues and readiness for breastfeeding. This course will also address support strategies from NIDCAP, SPIN and the use of donor milk, coupled with interdisciplinary teamwork and communication to meet the needs of the infant and family unit. Additionally, policy considerations and strategies to help mothers’ achieve an adequate milk supply will be covered.

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 7.0 contact hours.
