Course description
This course is for RNs who care for adult patients undergoing cardiac monitoring. This course is a hybrid course and has two parts. Part one consists of three self-paced online modules. The modules cover concepts/principles for measuring and interpreting common cardiac rhythms, including: sinus rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, ventricular rhythms, cardiac conduction blocks and pacemaker rhythms. Attendees will practice the measuring and interpretation of rhythms. Clinical assessment and nursing management will be reviewed for common dysrhythmias. Part two consists of an in-person exam with a passing score of ≥83%. The dates listed above are the various available test dates. The date that you register for the course is the date of your exit exam. Part 1 and Part 2 of this course will take a total of 24 hours to complete.
Prerequisites and preparation
Part 1: Pre-course modules
- ECG Interpretation Hybrid Module 1. This module will take approximately 8 hours to complete.
- ECG Interpretation Hybrid Module 2. This module will take approximately 8 hours to complete.
- ECG Interpretation Hybrid Module 3. This module will take approximately 6 hours to complete.
- Calipers are recommended for course activities but are not required.
Modules are to be completed no more than 30 days prior to class. Participants must bring verification of completion to class. Participants may bring their UC Learning Center training transcript as proof or show their training transcript using the SumTotal Mobile app.
Part 2: In-person exit exam
- The date that you register for the course is the date of your exit exam.
- All exam materials will be provided by CPPN.
- Learners are encouraged to contact course coordinators and schedule time to review content prior to exam as needed.
- Participants must pass the exit exam with a score of ≥83%.
C.E. contact hours
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 22.25 contact hours.
The UC Davis Health Center for Professional Practice of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
Attendees must successfully complete Part 1 and Part 2 of the course to receive C.E. credit. Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 5 minutes late for the in-person exam; no partial credit can be awarded.

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Parking
Parking is available in lot 25, approximately one block from the Broadway Building on 50th Street adjacent to the MIND Institute. Park with a UC Davis parking permit, or purchase a daily permit for $6.
