Course description

The goal of this course is to inform and educate nurses regarding their responsibility and accountability to patients and the complex issues involved in health care legal situations. This course will help nurses become educated about and be alert to the legal aspects of nursing practice.

Topics include

  • Documentation to defend a case – nursing negligence.
  • BRN discussion of reportable cases.
  • Provider safety and duty.
  • Patient complaints investigation.
  • Peer review process for determining if the standard of care was met.
  • Balancing emotional wellness and health while navigating burnout.

C.E. contact hours

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 7.25 contact hours.

Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Community registrants

$73 registration fee. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive a full refund. A $25 service fee will be charged after this date.
