Course description
The PICU Training Program is for nurses newer to the PICU environment including new graduate nurses to nurses with <3 years of experience or adult nurses who care for critically ill children in adult ICUs at UC Davis Medical Center. This class is part three of a five days series. You must register for each session individually if you want to attend subsequent sessions. This course provides participants with in-depth pathophysiology, evidence-based care, and skills experience through simulation-based scenarios required when caring for critically ill children. The content for day three includes: ingestions and snake bites, non-accidental traumas, diabetes management in the pediatric population, SIADH, renal failure, and oncological emergencies in pediatric patients.
Prerequisites and preparation
Participants are required to complete the following Pediatric Learning Solutions modules which are available through UC Learning Center prior to attending class. For planning purposes, please note the required modules will take approximately 4 hours to complete. CEUs will be awarded for these modules, separate from the class.
Required:
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Diabetes Insipidus and SIADH
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis
- Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation
- Renal Failure in the Pediatric Patient
Participants must bring proof of completion of all 5 required eLearning modules to class. Participants may bring their CEU certificate, certificate of completion or their UC Learning Center training transcript as proof.
C.E. contact hours
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, provider number CEP 26, for 6.75 contact hours.
Attendees will not receive C.E. credit if they are more than 20 minutes late; no partial credit can be awarded.

$25 registration deposit. Registration deposit is returned upon completion of class. Cancellation must be requested five days prior to class date to receive deposit refund.

Parking
