15th Annual Spaghetti Western to raise money for cancer research

Tickets are going fast for The 15^th Annual Spaghetti Western to support groundbreaking research at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. The food and wine event will be June 18, 2022, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., at Cooper Vineyards, 21365 Shenandoah Road in Plymouth.  There are a limited number of tables for up to eight people to picnic on site as well as a drive-through option for picking up dinners-to-go.

Dinner for two includes roasted beef tenderloin medallions, spaghetti with simmered mushrooms and wine marinara sauce, green salad, grilled garlic bread and dessert cookies.

An insulated grocery tote with the ACRF logo is included with each dinner-for-two meal ordered. In addition to dinner, bottles of wine can be purchased (must be 21 years old or older). Both drive-through and in-person picnic dinners must be ordered online, ahead of the event. The cutoff date for all purchases is 5:00 p.m., June 13, 2022.

The event is put on by the Amador Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF). The organization raises money for the Christine and Helen S. Landgraf Memorial Fund, which has given annual grants to doctors and research scientists at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center since 1973.  

The original endowment was established in memory of Christine Landgraf, who passed away from Hodgkin’s lymphoma at the age of 27. She was a patient of oncologist Fred Meyers, who now leads the cancer center’s Office of Education, Training and Career. The memorial fund provides an annual scholarship to a junior faculty member engaged in cancer research. Landgraf’s parents, John and Helen Landgraf, longtime residents of Sacramento and Sutter Creek, started the fund. Helen’s name was added in 2000 when she passed away.
