Serving as a leadership innovation hub for medical trainees and faculty in the schools of health at UC Davis Health, the program’s goals are boosting performance and retention, enhancing professionalism and collegiality, creating a culture of opportunity, and effecting positive cultural change.
This program focuses on identifying innovative leadership opportunities and the pathways for participation for all levels of medicine and nursing faculty, including early and mid-career faculty as well as senior-level faculty members.
Paths to Leadership
Designed to be immersive, intensive and time sensitive. Using a customized leadership curriculum, Paths to Leadership will provide a 5 consecutive half-day immersive career and skill development experience to a faculty cohort in order to teach and promote personal and professional development skills necessary for career success. Successful completion of the seminar will be recognized by a program Certificate.
Who should attend? Early career faculty (Assistant Professors and newly promoted Associate Professors).

Overview of Leadership Development Opportunities
We currently support faculty in pre-selection, career, and application coaching for external faculty development programs for minority faculty and women. Attendance at a number of these opportunities is supported by the UC Davis School of Medicine.
Early and Mid-Career Leadership Development Seminars
Brief description: Our program helps funnel early and mid-career minority and women faculty members through pre-selection, career, and application coaching for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) leadership seminars. These seminars are designed specifically for faculty who aspire to leadership positions in academic medicine.
Academic Pathway for Health Science Trainees
Brief description: Our academic pathway for health science trainee program will allow participants the opportunity to speak directly with senior faculty about their careers, and gain practical skills on leadership skills while learning how they can be applied to a career in academic medicine. Residents will be exposed to cases and assigned readings, didactic lectures, experiential learning, and panel discussions given by expert faculty and health system leaders.
