Dear Applicant,

Welcome to the UC Davis Department of Family and Community Medicine’s Residency Program! We are an ACGME-accredited residency training program based in Sacramento, CA. Currently, we have 47 residents in 3 unique residency training programs: our main 3-year Family Medicine Residency Program, a 4-year Family Medicine / Obstetrics Program, and a 5-year Family Medicine / Psychiatry Program.

We provide comprehensive family medicine education for our residents in collaborative, innovative ways. Our team-based environment fosters the development of key family medicine knowledge and skills. We provide outstanding clinical care in academic settings like the UC Davis ACC Family Medicine Clinic and the UC Davis Medical Center and collaborate with regional Federally Qualified Health Centers including One Community Health, CommuniCare, and Sacramento County Health Center for robust longitudinal community medicine experiences. As an academic program, we encourage all residents to participate in research and scholarly work. We believe physicians should be advocates and offer several opportunities for residents to partner with local, regional, and national organizations.

We also know that residency can be challenging - our residents work hard but also know there is life outside work! Our program supports wellness and resiliency through a strong support network of residents, faculty, and staff, as well as a dedicated curriculum including a monthly intern support group and Balint groups for mid-level and senior residents.

We wish you the best during interview season! If you have further questions, please feel free to email our wonderful Residency Program Manager, Roz Shirley at rmshirley@ucdavis.edu.
