2020 Employee Engagement Pulse Survey is underway (Oct. 12 to Nov. 16)

All UC Davis Health employees (clinical and nonclinical staff) – except those who started working here after July 12, 2020 – were sent a personal invitation (from "Press Ganey on behalf of UC Davis Health") to the 2020 Employee Engagement Pulse Survey on the morning of Monday, Oct. 12.

The survey will be open until the end of the day on Monday, Nov. 16.

The “pulse” survey is a shortened version of the full engagement survey that usually goes out in spring; due to COVID-19, this year’s survey was postponed and tightened to focus on several critical areas: safety, resilience, diversity and inclusion, and crisis management. It should only take about 10-15 minutes to complete.

Your open and honest feedback is vitally important, as it will help guide leadership in further improving the employee experience. The survey is completely confidential, and only aggregated data will be shared with UC Davis Health leaders.

The goal is to achieve 75% participation across UC Davis Health, so your participation is greatly needed and much appreciated. Stay tuned in the coming months for reports about the results and next steps in response to your feedback.

If you are unable to access your personal link for whatever reason, you may also complete the survey via a generic link (you will need your Employee ID number, found under your name/title on your UCPath home page):

Employees who do not have regular access to a computer can access the survey by using their smartphones to scan a QR code found on fliers in breakrooms throughout UC Davis Medical Center.

Managers/supervisors: The flier with the QR code (for the non-physician survey link) can be downloaded here for printing and posting. For those who are setting up shared computers or devices for completing the survey, please have disinfecting wipes available and post this reminder sign; thank you!

What is a pulse survey?

A pulse is a short, targeted survey that includes a subset of the questions asked in a full engagement survey.

Why are we doing a pulse survey instead of a full survey?

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we work and forced us to move events and gatherings to virtual platforms and delay some projects and programs. One of those delayed initiatives was the annual employee engagement survey, originally scheduled for April.

That said, your feedback is more important than ever so we’re launching an employee engagement pulse survey to hear your thoughts about areas we know are important to you: safety, resilience, diversity and inclusion and crisis management.

What are the dates of the pulse survey?

Monday, Oct. 12 – Monday, Nov. 16.

What is the target participation rate?

We want to hear diverse perspectives; our goal is a 75% participation rate.

Are there any incentives for survey participation?

As a health system, we’ve been focused on transitioning into a true farm-to-fork healthy food program, thanks to Executive Chef Santana Diaz and the entire Food and Nutrition Services team. Now visitors, patients, and employees are all able to enjoy locally sourced, world-class cuisine menu options.

It’s in that spirit that we offer the following: for departments that reach a 100% participation rate, managers and directors can request vouchers for their employees to be used at any of the cafes on the UC Davis Health campus. For those with staff working at one of our clinics, they’ll be able to order boxed lunches to be delivered to their teams.

When will the results be made available?

The results will be available by the end of the year.

How will the results be shared?

Overall system results will be shared via the Insider and other broad organization wide communication channels. Leaders will be responsible for cascading their specific department results.

Who is eligible to take the survey?

Non-clinical and clinical staff – including personnel in the School of Medicine and the Berry Irene Moore School of Nursing – will be invited to participate. All practicing physicians, fellows and residents will take the physician engagement pulse survey during the same timeframe.

Note that the nurses’ version of the survey is slightly longer than the non-nurse version.

Employees that started working at UC Davis Health after July 12, 2020 are not be eligible to participate.

I don’t have regular access to a computer. Can I still take the survey?

Yes! There is a QR code available that you can scan using a mobile device and it will launch the survey. There are fliers posted throughout the medical center with the QR code.

When will we conduct another full engagement survey?

We will not conduct a full engagement survey until spring 2021.
