California Clean Air Day is Oct. 6: Have you taken the pledge?

Wednesday, October 6 is the fourth annual California Clean Air Day, which is built on the idea that shared experiences unite people to take action to improve our community health. To celebrate this day, individuals and organizations are urged to make a Clean Air Pledge – a commitment to do their part to clear the air, through actions big and small.

As part of this effort, UC Davis Health has joined hundreds of companies in making an organizational pledge. Employees are encouraged to log on and make a pledge as well.

For employees that will be on the Sacramento campus on October 6, the UC Davis Health Sustainability team is hosting an outdoor event in celebration of California Clean Air Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in and around the Education Quad and the Rotunda. There will be a tree planting followed by a tabling event featuring departments such as Energy and the Green Commuter Program. Food & Nutrition Services with be joined by three local sustainable farms to showcase our Farm-to-Fork initiative. In addition, there will be free, onsite bike safety checks and a succulent planning demonstration.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the tree planting or other events, can complete this Volunteer Interest Form or email Sarah Janus.

All attendees are required to be vaccinated and masked at the event and must be prepared to show proof of vaccination if asked.
