Lift Team members receive this month’s POP Award

(SACRAMENTO)

On Thursday, August 26, Chief Nursing and Patient Care Services Officer Toby Marsh presented this month’s Point of Pride (POP) Award to Brett Baker, James Beall, Solomon Smart, and Sean Barney from the Lift Team. The POP Award recognizes that every day, countless actions of empathy and kindness – large and small – take place across our health system.

A large patient arrived in the Emergency Department via ambulance and the Lift Team was called to assist in moving the patient to a bed. As the Lift Team was formulating a plan and obtaining Safe Patient Handling equipment, the patient reached over and the gurney tipped, leaving him trapped between the gurney and bed.

The Lift Team reacted immediately, preventing the patient from falling to the floor. The team was able to hold the patient on all sides, cut two of the gurney straps, and get the patient back in the bed safely.

“Thank you for keeping our patients safe,” said Marsh. “This POP Award highlights your commitment to our patients and to providing extraordinary care.”

Congratulations to Brett, James, Solomon, and Sean, our POP Award winners!
