New offerings from Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being

The Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being team has added several new stress reduction and resilience events that start this week:

Live Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness meditation is the art and science of paying attention, on purpose with openness, curiosity and a willingness to be with experience as it is – it has been found to promote resilience and well-being. Sessions begin with a brief introduction followed by a guided meditation, led by Neesha Patel, PhD, of Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being.

 Dates: Every Monday through Dec. 13

Time: 4:15-5 p.m.

One-time registration all sessions through Dec. 13. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email on how to join the Zoom sessions, by phone or computer.

Navigating Change

As we embark upon an unprecedented Fall quarter, how we deal with the transitions we find ourselves in, can make a difference in our well-being. Please join Neesha Patel, PhD, of Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being for two sessions of exploring ways to support yourself through some of the changes we are navigating these days – each session will focus on a different skill to help with navigating change.

Dates:

  • Monday, Sept. 20 – Minding the Gap of Uncertainty
  • Monday, Oct. 4 – Overcoming the Negativity Bias

Relax and Release

Taking time to relax is vital to our health, wellbeing and optimal functioning. Learn how to activate your body’s natural relaxation response. In each session we will explore a particular self-calming skill through experiential exercises that you can try and take with you to use in your life. Presented by Neesha Patel, PhD, of Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being.

Dates:

  • Thursday, Oct. 14 - Deep Abdominal Breathing
  • Monday, November 15 - Progressive Muscle Relaxation
  • Wednesday, December 8 – Grounding
