Obstetric anesthesia service celebrates Center of Excellence recognition

Last week, UC Davis Medical Center’s obstetric anesthesia service celebrated its designation by the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology as a Center of Excellence. The medical center is one of 17 institutions globally and only the second UC health system to receive this recognition.

The SOAP Center of Excellence designation was created to recognize institutions and programs that demonstrate excellence in obstetric anesthesia care and to set a benchmark of expected care to improve standards nationally and internationally.

“This recognition has been a labor of love for the past two years,” said Julie Fowler, M.D. “It is a reflection of great patient care and teamwork from this multidisciplinary group.” 

In closing, Chief Nursing and Patient Care Services Officer Toby Marsh shared, “This is designation is well deserved!”
