The medical practice of Robert Miller, an eye specialist who has cared for thousands of patients in Davis and the surrounding communities as director of Advanced Valley Eye Associates, will become part of UC Davis Health beginning September 1.
Miller will continue to see patients at his current location on Lyndell Terrace in Davis. Five eye experts from UC Davis Eye Center will join his practice. Miller also will see patients at the UC Davis Eye Center in Sacramento, where he has accepted a faculty appointment.
“We are committed to the Davis community and to improving the health-related services offered in Yolo county,” said UC Davis Health CEO David Lubarsky. “This is one of many steps we’ll be taking in the coming months to expand care in our namesake city.”
Mark Mannis, professor and chair of ophthalmology and vision science at UC Davis, agrees.
“We are happy to work with Dr. Miller to continue offering outstanding vision care that patients in Davis and nearby communities have relied upon,” Mannis said. “We are expanding care to Davis, adding advanced specialty services for disorders of the cornea, glaucoma and other disabling eye conditions. In early 2020 we also expect to add services for diseases of the retina.”
Patients with Sutter HMO can continue to receive care from UC Davis Health. Patients with other insurance plans should check with their health plan to confirm that they can receive services with a UC Davis physician.
Representatives from UC Davis Health’s Consumer Resource Center are also available to answer questions about the new clinic and insurance plans at 1-800-282-3284.
Miller has had a longstanding relationship with the UC Davis Eye Center. He received his specialty care training in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Science. He also has served as a volunteer clinical faculty member for the past 25 years, training the next generation of eye specialists.
In addition to the new clinic in Davis, the UC Davis Eye Center operates specialty clinics in Sacramento, Folsom and Roseville. These clinics meet the health needs of individuals and families in their own communities, offering a unique combination of personalized care and the expertise of a leading academic health system.
