UC Davis Health has again been recognized as a level 9 out of a possible 10 in the 2020 Digital Health “Most Wired” program from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
UC Davis earned this rating in both the Acute and Ambulatory categories. The honor recognizes excellence in using technology to improve the delivery of care.
“With decades of expertise and preparation in telehealth, the pandemic prompted us to quickly ramp up our virtual health care services to help keep both patients and providers safe,” said David Lubarsky, CEO of UC Davis Health. “While this continues to be a very challenging time for everyone, we’re proud to have built the infrastructure and trained our providers to deliver more care at a distance. It also positions us with future digital platforms, which will enable us to expand care through hospital-at-home initiatives and what some are calling ‘the virtual hospital.’”
In the “most wired” category for ambulatory, UC Davis Health was one of just two health care organizations in Northern California to earn level 9 status in 2020. Likewise, in the acute category, UC Davis Health was one of just three organizations to achieve the level 9 designation in Northern California this year.
“Internet technology and online services have been a priority for us for many years,” said John Cook, interim chief technology officer for the health system. “This latest ‘Most Wired’ recognition for UC Davis Health is ultimately a reflection of our focus on quality of care and access for patients. Those are the true drivers in everything we’ve done.”
The Most Wired program conducts an annual survey to assess how effectively health care organizations throughout the nation utilize technology in their clinical and business programs to improve the health of their communities. Organizations are scored in areas including infrastructure; security; business/disaster recovery; administrative/supply chain; analytics/data management; interoperability/population health; patient engagement; and clinical quality/safety.
