Although her Trinidadian parents wanted her to become a lawyer (“you have to do what your parents say pretty much”), UC Davis Health’s Calene Roseman had a couple of life experiences that led to her true calling in the nursing profession. When she first came to the U.S., she was a nanny for the family of an oncologist. And she also saw first-hand the poor treatment of a friend diagnosed with HIV – and vowed to do better.
