(SACRAMENTO)

As of Friday, September 24, UC Davis Health employees who received two doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine more than six months ago, are eligible for a Pfizer booster shot. Those 65 years and older or those who are immunocompromised were previously given the approval to receive a Pfizer booster.

The Employee Health Clinic, located in North Addition Office Building, Room 1001, will begin offering both the Pfizer booster shot and the flu vaccine to COVID Units and Emergency Department employees today, Friday, September 24, until 10 p.m. All other eligible UC Davis Health employees are welcome to visit the clinic during normal clinic hours beginning Tuesday, September 28, to receive a Pfizer booster and the flu vaccine at the same time (one in each arm).  The employee clinic is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  The clinic is closed on Mondays, weekends, and holidays. Walk-ins are welcome – appointments are not necessary.

At this time, those employees who received two doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine are not eligible for the Pfizer booster unless they are immunocompromised. We hope to receive more information about the Moderna booster and its availability within the next month. According to CDC data, the Moderna vaccine is 94.1% effective at preventing laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection in people who received two doses and had no evidence of being previously infected. We will share any updates regarding the Moderna booster as they become available.

If there are any questions about the Pfizer booster shot or the flu vaccine, please contact Employee Health at hs-employee.health@ucdavis.edu or 916-734-3572.
