The UC Davis Vascular Center’s lab has been reaccredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for vascular testing in extracranial cerebrovascular testing, peripheral venous testing, peripheral arterial testing and visceral vascular testing at its sites in Sacramento and Rocklin.
IAC accreditation is considered a “seal of approval” and quality indicator patients can rely on when selecting sites for their care. The UC Davis lab is one of just two in the Sacramento area to achieve this accreditation, and the only one accredited in four types of procedures. The reaccreditation is good for three years.
Vascular testing provides the foundation for accurate diagnosis of and treatment planning for blood vessel conditions. It has a critical role in identifying and addressing vascular disease early and effectively, helping patients avoid complications such as stroke, heart attack and aneurysm.
The UC Davis vascular lab is highly regarded for the strength of its team, the volume of exams they conduct and the complexity of the vascular conditions they can assess. All of the lab’s technologists are registered vascular technologists through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, the gold standard in their field.
“Our vascular staff, the quality of their exams and their partnership with our surgeons are exceptional,” said Matthew Mell, chief of vascular surgery and director of the vascular center at UC Davis Health. “They also are constantly finding ways to improve what they do, especially if it advances patient comfort and care.”
The IAC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring quality patient care through accreditation. The process involves an intensive application and evaluation based on published standards. To learn more, visit www.intersocietal.org.
