External email forwarding disabled starting Dec. 11
(SACRAMENTO)
Per UC Davis Health policy, users should not forward messages from their UC Davis Health email account to any external email service (such as Gmail), as doing so creates security risks and the potential exposure of sensitive information.
The current policy states:
- All UCDH personnel (faculty, students, staff, contractors, and volunteers) must use the official UCDH e-mail (currently Microsoft Outlook) for all work-related activities associated with business. Individuals shall not auto-forward their account to any other non-UC Davis e-mail account (e.g., Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.).
What’s changing
To strengthen our security posture and ensure alignment with existing policy, Information Technology will disable the ability to forward UC Davis Health emails to external addresses beginning Dec. 11.
Exceptions
If external forwarding is essential for a critical business need, you may submit a Cyber-Safety Exception (CSE) request. All requests will be reviewed by the cybersecurity team.
