General Internal Medicine Consult Rotation for Fourth Year Medical Students
GMD 460: Course Description
The General Internal Medicine (GIM) Consultation Service provides consultation to non-medical inpatient specialty services, and specializes in the perio-operative assessment and management of medical issues in surgical patients. Students function as an integral member of the consultation team performing consultations and following consultation patients under the close supervision of the GIM faculty attending. Students receive and are expected to read the consultation service syllabus, in addition to relevant evidence-based literature pertaining to their patients. Students also participate in daily rounds as well as a weekly case conference.
