What should you do if you receive an email threat?
Response to email threats should always be performed by authorized personnel
Email threats that are made against UC Davis Health facilities should be forwarded to the UC Davis Health Information Security Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. Do not respond to the email or try to contact its sender. Do not pay the requested ransom. Your physical security teams should also be informed.
What might threat emails look like?
The email subject lines that have been observed in some bomb scares included the following:
- Your building is under my control
- Think twice
- We can make a deal
- You don’t have much time
- You are responsible for people
- I give you a chance
- Bomb is in your building
The email message body may also include the term: explosive device.
