Melinda Mendoza, B.S.N., J.D. C.P.C, C.H.C., C.H.P.C., C.H.R.C., is the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer of UC Davis Health. She oversees the system’s privacy and compliance programs, ensuring institutional adherence to internal policies and outside regulatory and legal requirements in the areas of compliance, privacy, research, billing and coding, and fraud, waste and abuse.

Responsible for the ethical conduct of the organization, Mendoza leads a team of compliance professionals who establish procedures to monitor compliance. This includes advisement and policy development as well as conducting audits and investigations.

Mendoza joined UC Davis Health in 2021 after previously working as the Chief Compliance Officer at Renown Health System in Reno, Nev. During her career, she worked at the University of Arizona Health Network for 14 years fulfilling both Chief Compliance Office and Associate General Counsel. Prior to this, she started her career as a Registered Nurse at Carondelet Health Network in Arizona, where she later went on to serve as a Risk Management Nurse Specialist, Corporate Risk Management Director and Corporate Compliance Director.

Mendoza is a health care attorney, executive leader and clinician highly skilled at implementing compliance best practices, including comprehensive risk assessments and annual audit and compliance plans with a focus on preventing, identifying and reconciling compliance matters consistent with an organization’s strategy and vision.

Mendoza has a bachelor of science in nursing and a juris doctorate, as well as certifications in coding, compliance, research compliance and privacy.  She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, American Academy of Professional Coders, Health Care Compliance Association, National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives, Arizona State Board of Nursing and the Arizona State Bar.
