PLA Skateboarding supports children’s hospital through sneaker raffle

(SACRAMENTO)

When Nike unveiled a very limited release of its new “Mummy” dunk low sneakers last month, PLA Skateboarding store used it as an opportunity to raise funds for UC Davis Children’s Hospital

To enter a raffle for a chance to purchase the shoes, PLA Skateboarding customers needed to make a donation of any amount to UC Davis Children’s Hospital.

More than $1,900 was donated to UC Davis Children’s Hospital from 190 customers in two days.

“We chose UC Davis Children’s Hospital because it’s important to us that the money stays local and supports the kids in our community,” said store manager Jason Talbert. “Since the shoes we acquire to sell are so limited, we know we are in a unique position to hold a drawing and can use that to help people. We like to leverage these drawings as an opportunity to pay it forward.”

The donations benefit hospitalized children at UC Davis Children’s Hospital and will support patient care, equipment, programs and research.

“Creative fundraisers like this show there are many ways to support children in our hospital,” said Tony Hazarian, executive director of development at UC Davis Medical Center. “We thank PLA and its wonderful customers for helping our kids heal and making their holidays just a little brighter.”

PLA Skateboarding is a skateboarding apparel and gear store with two locations in Sacramento and Folsom.
