Associate Professor in Endocrinology, Medical Director for the Physician Assistant Studies Program

Alison SemradAlison Semrad is an associate health sciences clinical professor in Endocrinology and medical director for the physician assistant program at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. She also serves as a faculty mentor for second-year nurse practitioner and physician assistant students. She is the co-instructor of record for the first-year nurse practitioner and physician assistant Endocrine course.

Semrad, an endocrinologist, maintains a medical practice at UC Davis Medical Center in the Department of Internal Medicine’s Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. There, she specializes in treating thyroid diseases, serves as a clinical endocrine instructor for fellows, Internal Medicine and Family Practice residents and students at the School of Medicine. She is a co-founder of UC Davis Medical Center’s newly established multidisciplinary thyroid cancer clinic. She co-chairs the Department of Otolaryngology’s endocrine tumor board and is co-fellowship director for the endocrine fellowship at UC Davis Medical Center. Her clinical interests include benign thyroid disease and thyroid cancer. Semrad’s research interests focus on iodine-resistant thyroid cancer.

Semrad earned a Doctor of Osteopathy in 2004 from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. She completed an internal medicine residency, an endocrine fellowship and a thyroid fellowship at UC Davis Medical Center. She is a UC Davis alumna who earned a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 1999. She is board certified in internal medicine; endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism; and also earned national endocrine certification in neck ultrasound (ECNU).

Semrad has been published in Thyroid, Rare Tumors, The World Journal of Endocrine Surgery, Gland Surgery and Metabolic Syndrome Related Disorders.
