Thanks to the latest evolution in surgical technology, physicians at UC Davis Medical Center now offer an effective alternative to both traditional "open" surgery and conventional minimally invasive laparoscopy that may provide patients with the best of both procedures. With the assistance of a robotic surgical system, surgeons can now operate using only very small incisions while still maintaining the same or greater levels of precision and control.

Vanessa Kennedy, M.D.

Dr. Kennedy is board-certified in Gynecologic Oncology and provides specialized surgical care to women with gynecologic malignancies and complicated benign gynecologic conditions.  She believes strongly in treating the patient as a whole and incorporating patients and their loved ones into the decision making process.  Passionate about maximizing quality of life for her patients, she performs procedures through a variety of approaches, minimally invasive surgery using laparoscopic and robotic techniques.

Gary Leiserowitz, M.D., M.S.
Professor and Chair, Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr. Leiserowitz is board-certified in Gynecologic Oncology and specializes in minimally invasive surgery. His research interests includes the development of a potential new blood test for ovarian cancer using glycomics analysis, and outcomes-based research with recent work focusing on identifying predictive factors for long- term survival in ovarian cancer, with two major grant applications pending. He serves as an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, both for general exams and subspecialty exams in Gynecologic Oncology. He has been listed a number of times over the years as one of the “Best Doctors in America,” including 2013.

Dr. Wallach has clinical interests in urogynecology and pelvic reconstruction.  Dr. Wallach is amongst the first group of Board Certified specialists in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (Urogynecology) in the country.

Dr. Nejad is dedicated and committed to the complete care of the female patient at every age so that they are empowered by their physical well being. Her specific area of interest is minimally invasive surgery, specializing in robotic-assisted surgery. She practices both obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Nejad is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery, education of residents and medical students, family planning, and hormone therapy.
