Volunteer Chaplains are a valued resource to the Chaplaincy Services & Education Department and the UC Davis Health. Our volunteers provide services to patients, families and staff of the UC Davis Medical Center through patient visits and taking part in ceremonies and rituals for all faith communities and for persons of no faith tradition.

Volunteer Chaplains provide a welcome partnership of caring in this transformative ministry. There are hundreds of people on any given day at the hospital who are going through major life changes; many are lonely, and many are looking to connect with their faith and with God. We greatly welcome and appreciate the participation of volunteers who would be able to offer a companioning and compassionate presence for our sisters and brothers who are sick. We believe that this ministry has the potential to bear rich fruits not only for the patients, but also for the Volunteer Chaplains who journey with them.
