Why did you choose the UC Davis Residency Program?
I knew as soon as I did my Pediatrics clerkship in the third year of medical school that I wanted to attend residency at UC Davis. The rapport between the residents and attendings promotes a positive learning environment. I like that what you see is what you get. The program has very consistently delivered an excellent learning experience in every rotation I have done. Everyone is genuinely interested in the success of their colleagues and it results in a really nice team dynamic. I also like the patient population that UC Davis serves. It has a very large catchment area and a substantial medically underserved population. I particularly enjoyed working with the refugee resettlement community while in medical school. Finally, my family and I have loved living in the Sacramento area. The central location is perfect for us. We love that in less than two hours we can either be in San Francisco or in Desolation Wilderness. We live close to the hospital and can easily walk or bike to a wide range of restaurants or the grocery store. We also appreciate that my girl's high school experience has been made rich with the diversity of the population here.
Clinical Areas of Interest: Neonatology, Emergency Medicine, General Pediatrics
Hobbies: Exercise, cooking, gardening, knitting, sewing, and spending time with my dog.

I had a great experience on interview day - I left feeling really excited about UC Davis Pediatrics and all their unique opportunities. I was drawn to their involvement with community advocacy and the chance to get participate in legislative advocacy in California's capital. I found the residents to be impressive and knowledgeable, but down to earth as well. Although I am originally from southern California (San Diego), I was attracted to Sacramento for its diversity and affordability, as well as its convenient proximity to Napa, Yosemite, San Fran, etc.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Residency Program?
I was looking for a smaller program that was academic but also community focused, where the residents had autonomy but with good faculty support, and with interesting opportunities outside of the wards like advocacy and community health. On interview day, I loved my interactions with the friendly and funny residents, faculty, and staff. The pre-interview dinner was the most fun of all interview season. I also love Sacramento and am happy to be close to my home in the bay area. After interviewing at the program, it was clear that it would be a perfect fit for me.

Why did you choose the UC Davis Residency Program?
I love the Sacramento area and the culture of the Davis program. It reminds me of aspects of my training at Tufts (smaller residency program, more close-knit). It's also very close to home for me and is someplace that I would like to end up eventually.
