10th Annual Sake Fest benefiting UC Davis Pediatric Heart Center set for Oct. 9

The 10th Annual Northern California Premium Sake Fest, benefiting the UC Davis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Heart Center, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6-9 p.m. at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel.

The event will feature 100 selections of sake, schochu and Japanese beer, as well as foods from local restaurants. It also will include a sushi chef contest, a benefit drawing, Taiko drummers, a silent auction, a blind sake tasting, and a sashimi tuna-cutting demonstration.

Tickets are $60 in advance and $70 at the door. To purchase tickets, send an e-mail to, visit or call 916-373-1111, ext. 120.

The Sake Fest is presented by North American Food Distributing Company. Its owners, Judy and Harley Inaba, started the Sake Fest to promote awareness of pediatric congenital heart abnormalities. Their son was born with transposed arteries and required cardiac surgery early in his life.

This event celebrates his recovery and helps children with similar conditions by donating a portion of the proceeds to UC Davis Children’s Hospital, where a team of dedicated specialists provides diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures for infants, children and adolescents with congenital or acquired heart defects. Proceeds from the Sake Fest help fund an annual picnic for UC Davis pediatric heart patients and their families.
