Philosophy of Care

Dr. Thorpe strives to provide compassionate, evidence based care to all patients and their families.  He works closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide expert coordinated care to patients with sarcoma and other tumors of the musculoskeletal system.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Thorpe is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgical oncologist with expertise in bone and soft tissue sarcomas in both adult and pediatric patients. He specializes in limb sparing resections and reconstructions for bone and soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities.  He also has expertise in the surgical management of metastatic bone tumors and benign bone and soft tissue tumors.  Dr. Thorpe has particular interest in pediatric limb salvage procedures and surgical resections for malignant sarcoma of the pelvis. 

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Thorpe's research focuses on clinical and translational studies in the treatment of sarcoma. He is currently working on studies evaluating surgical margins and improving the quality of soft tissue sarcoma resections. Additionally, he partners with a bioengineering lab working with 3D models for the study of tumor formation and the development of metastasis in osteosarcoma.
