Philosophy of Care
I was drawn to pediatrics by both its challenges and rewards. Pediatric patients, from newborn babies to near-adult adolescents, present a broad spectrum of medical conditions. Illness and disease place special burdens on children, and I am sensitive to each child?s individual discomforts and worries. I believe in the power of preventive health care. I not only treat existing problems, but also try to guide the children I see toward active lives and healthy habits. I value open communication and a supportive environment, and I encourage parents and caretakers to ask questions. In my view, I am in a partnership with families, helping their children grow into healthy adults. I am proud to be part of the UC Davis family, an institution with world-class facilities and a deep commitment to providing the best medical care to the people it serves.
T. Wade Maney emphasizes preventive care and works to guide children toward active lives and healthy habits. He especially values open communication with parents and caretakers.
