Philosophy of Care
I love the practice of internal medicine. I firmly believe that health care is a partnership a "therapeutic alliance" between patient and physician. As a result, my ability to provide medical care depends critically on a patient's respect for and active participation in this relationship. I am proud to be a member of an organization like UC Davis, which heals with a passion and delivers on its promise to teach both patients and health care professionals.
Minority health care issues, particularly in relation to Hispanic and Latino populations, are of high priority for Jorge A. Garcia. Garcia's research interests include the quality of health care delivery for underserved persons from diverse backgrounds, Hispanic and Latino health care issues, and cultural competency in medical education.
