Philosophy of Care
I was attracted to rheumatology because of the cerebral, mystery-solving aspect of the field. I approach each patient’s particular condition with the words of my mentor in mind: “History does not start at the elevator.” Sometimes, you have to keep digging to find answers and be open to consulting with more experienced colleagues to find the diagnosis and treatment that works best for the patient.
Just as I am open to conferring with my colleagues to learn from them, one of my favorite aspects of the job is mentoring residents and students. I also appreciate when patients search for resources on their diseases and medications because it means they are partners in care.
Dr. Sandhu is a general adult rheumatologist offering care for adults with various rheumatological conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, lupus and musculoskeletal disorders. He has special interest in osteoporosis and vasculitis.
Dr. Sandhu's research focuses on inflammatory myopathy and their association with lung diseases.
