Dr. Harper specializes in the diagnosis and management of patients with diffuse parenchymal lung diseases. In collaboration with the UC Davis Interstitial Lung Disease Specialty clinic, he predominantly sees patients with sarcoidosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and connective-tissue disease-related interstitial lung disease. He also provides expertise in cardiopulmonary exercise testing as a means to diagnose patients with unexplained shortness of breath, or to better assess response to therapy.
Dr. Harper's research includes the study of important signaling molecules regulating mucosal innate immunity and allergic responses. This includes the study of mechanisms that are critical for neutrophil recruitment in the airway epithelium.
