Chief
radiation therapist Rick Harse prepares the cancer centerÍs new
rotating gamma system for patients. The high-tech tool will be used
to treat brain tumors, intercranial lesions and vascular malformations
with a noninvasive procedure that is done on an outpatient basis.
The 22-ton system operates on the same principles as a gamma knife,
but with greater ease of use and comfort for patients. It is expected
to be commissioned and ready for patients by late fall.
