We are 200+ residents strong, 9 programs deep.

Vision: To train a robust family medicine physician workforce to provide high quality, accessible, and equitable care within California’s diverse communities to improve health outcomes.

Mission: Fostering excellence through collaboration, shared resources and support of the Network residency programs and students.

The UC Davis Family Medicine Network started in 1973 in response to a shortage of primary care physicians in Northern and Central California as well as rural regions within California. We are now in nine counties with 85% of Network graduates keeping their practice in-state.

Our program has over a 50-year history of providing excellent health care and outstanding clinical education in all aspects of Family Medicine. The Network trains exceptional residents to meet the health care needs of diverse and underserved populations residing in California’s rural and urban areas. In addition to sponsoring multiple training and scholarly activities for the nine family medicine residency programs, the Network provides peer support and educational resources to Program Directors, Coordinators and Chief Residents who value improving the care of their patients both in the context of their practice and in their community.
