“I’m humbled to be included in this awesome group of women,” said Wiedeman, who was one of 20 honorees.

Wiedeman was nominated by Roberta DeBiasi and Alexandra Brugler, two UC Davis pediatric residents that Wiedeman mentored, who became infectious disease physicians at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Wiedeman currently provides medical administration and education consultation at UC Davis Health for medical care providers regarding appropriate antimicrobial stewardship and best practices for patient safety through infection prevention. Wiedeman earned her medical degree at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, her pediatric training at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio and her Ph.D. at University of Cambridge and Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
