New dedicated pediatric pulmonary hypertension program
UC Davis Health has launched a pediatric pulmonary hypertension outpatient clinic that provides a one-stop shop experience for patient and family, allowing them to see multiple physicians, a respiratory therapist, registered dietitian and a social worker all within a single visit. Specialists from pediatric cardiology, neonatology, pediatric critical care, pediatric cardiothoracic surgery, pediatric pulmonology and pharmacy are all part of the collaborative pulmonary hypertension team.
Telemedicine and in-person visits best fit for asthma care
A combination of telemedicine and in-person visits is the best fit for asthma care in pediatric patients, a UC Davis Health study found. Published in the Journal of Asthma, the findings showed that although video visits were beneficial in reducing travel time and keeping children safe during the pandemic, parents and patients still found value to in-person visits, particularly when meeting care providers for the first time and receiving asthma education or medication management information.
