Receiving America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award for 2024 means the medical center is among the top 2% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance. In addition, UC Davis has been one of Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals for five-consecutive years.

The medical center received accolades for high-quality patient care, known as Specialty Excellent Awards, in five specialty areas.

“We’re honored to be named one of the best hospitals in the US and in the top 2% of all hospitals for our overall clinical performance,” said David Lubarsky, vice chancellor of human health sciences and CEO of UC Davis Health. “We’re also honored to be recognized for the quality of our gastrointestinal care, gastrointestinal surgery, pulmonary care, critical care and stroke care.”

This marks the third year in a row for specialty awards for gastrointestinal care, gastrointestinal surgery, pulmonary care and stroke care. Further, it’s the fourth year in a row being named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for critical care.

“All of our awards are a testament to the expertise, commitment and compassion of our physicians, nurses, and other care team members who consistently strive to provide the highest quality of care and best clinical outcomes by putting our patients first every day,” added Lubarsky.

To determine the top hospitals for 2024, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 conditions and procedures at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Unlike other hospital evaluations, Healthgrades ratings are based solely on what matters most to consumers: patient outcomes. The 2024 Healthgrades analysis revealed significant variation in hospital performance, making it increasingly important to seek care at top-rated programs.
