Facelift
Rhytidectomy
Aging of the face happens to everyone. Sun exposure, gravity, age, and heredity all contribute to skin changes. Fine lines first appear, developing into wrinkles and, eventually, into deeper folds. The jaw line softens into jowls and excess skin below the chin sags.
As the number of older adults increases, more patients express an interest in facial rejuvenation. Performing a facelift restores a more refreshed, youthful appearance without looking tight or unnatural. A facelift operation (also known as rhytidectomy) may be done under twilight or general anesthesia. The operation takes about 3 hours. Usually, the patient is able to appear in public without obvious signs of facial surgery by three weeks postoperatively.
