Safe Patient Handling (SPH)

Safe Patient Handling involves education on proper techniques and the use of assistive devices to reduce risk to staff and patients.

Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) involves the integration of SPH techniques in early and progressive mobility of patients. This approach can be used to mobilize patients gently, earlier, and progressively without risking injury to patients or staff.

If your position requires you to physically interact with patients, you will need to complete the e-learning course and hands-on training annually.

Both e-learning and hands-on training is required on an annual basis.
