“Sky Trail, Point Reyes”
(4 Years After the Woodward Fire)
Photography
Point Reyes is a special place for me to visit with gorgeous landscapes from the coast to the forest and lovely wildlife to spot with great trails to meander through. The forest fire that came through here in August of 2020 was quite destructive and was heart breaking for me. Thankfully, the firefighters were able to protect many of the trees that make this part of Point Reyes a special place to wander through.
Almost four years after the Woodward fire, signs of the fire can be seen in the burnt tree trunks, but a lot of the flora and fauna has returned here and thrives. Nature's ability to heal can be grounding, reflective, and inspiring. I hope this photo captures the essence of healing for you.”—Andrionni Ribo
“Mending Through Strings”
Photography
The symbolic meaning of the strings are to mend one's spirit and give them the protection needed to get through tribulations and endeavors. My mother, a Hmong shaman, and my niece, who just turned two, are two generations that are forever protected by these strings. But regardless of it being family or not, anyone can tie a string for someone else to bless and wish safety upon them. I hoped to showcase that within our UC Davis Health Community, there are many powerful cultures and traditions that can be shared beyond different groups and generations.” —Diana Moua
