An innovative approach

The UC Davis Cancer Care Network began in 1999, when UC Davis Health System was invited by the communities of Marysville and Merced, California to partner in the development of local community cancer centers. The Fremont-Rideout (now Rideout) Cancer Center in Marysville and the Mercy UC Davis Cancer Center in Merced opened in 2000. These affiliations have expanded over time to include formal clinical connections. These successful affiliations led to additional partnerships in northern and central California.

Comprehensive network services have evolved to include access to clinical trials, virtual tumor boards, nursing, and quality care with the Gene Upshaw Memorial Tahoe Forest Cancer Center in Truckee and the AIS Cancer Center at Adventist Health Bakersfield.

The network has recently added two new network sites, Barton Health in South Lake Tahoe and Ridgecrest Regional Hospital in Ridgecrest.

Affiliates: United by collaboration

The UC Davis Cancer Care Network is a unique partnership among cancer centers around Northern and Central California that work together to offer patients first-rate, leading-edge care close to home. Hospital-based community cancer centers become affiliates of the UC Davis Cancer Care Network through an evaluation process led by UC Davis. By synergizing the strengths of an academic health system and community-based care, the network formalizes the commitment to collaboration with community providers promoting the delivery of first-rate care across the region.
