Autism is part of human nature and autistic people display all manner of human individual differences. This makes understanding all the important details of autism difficult, but also means that people with autism can benefit from many different intervention approaches.
Dr. Mundy is a developmental psychologist involved in research on defining the nature of Autism Spectrum Disorder in order to inform the development of more effective diagnostic and intervention methods.
Dr. Mundy's research has focused on understanding how differences in early attention development play a role in the development and outcomes of autism. Since the 1980's his research has contributed to defining the nature of social differences of autism, the diagnosis of autism in preschool children and the development of early effective intervention for autism. Most recently his research has focuses on how the symptoms of autism may impact learning in school aged children.
