Philosophy of Care

As a psychiatrist I strive to embrace individuality while respecting cultural identities. I lead with empathy and a desire for understanding. I try to blend education and autonomy in the shared decision-making process. 

Clinical Interests

Dr. McAskill is a general psychiatrist offering care to adults with various psychiatric conditions. Her clinical interests include women's mental health, trauma, as well as BIPOC and LGBTQ+ populations.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. McAskill is strongly interested in education. She works closely with the residents in the UCD psychiatry program as a core faculty member. Dr. McAskill also has interests in advocacy to help obtain better rights for people who live with mental illness.
