It was one year ago that our lives were forever changed. It is a date that is etched into my family’s memory forever. Our precious little 2-month-old baby girl Ellie had lifesaving emergency cardiac surgery on October 27, 2021. It is hard to describe the anguish a parent has when they are not capable to care for their own child. Fortunately for my family we found ourselves leaving the care in the capable and lifesaving hands of the Children’s Hospital at UC Davis Medical Center.
The experience of having a critically ill baby would have been a horrific experience had it not been for the care and attention that was provided not only to Ellie, but to us as well. Not once during our time in the hospital did we feel that Ellie was not in the best of hands. The level of care provided was beyond reproach and was a comfort to us that is something that we can never repay.
It makes me enormously proud to be a small part of the team of professionals that are given the privilege to care for the most valuable and vulnerable populations, the babies and children of the world. I come home every day to a living breathing example of the world-class care we provide to our patients and cannot thank you all enough for being part of that team.
