Build a lasting relationship with a primary care provider who knows you and your health history. Primary care offers preventive care, treatment for routine illnesses, management of chronic conditions, and coordination with specialists when additional care is needed.

How to Schedule:

• Existing patients can log in and schedule through MyUCDavisHealth or call their primary care clinic.

Patients ages 6 months and older. Same-day or next-day service for common illnesses or injuries that can’t wait for an appointment with regular primary care doctor. Available in Midtown Sacramento, with new locations soon.

An on-demand video care service you can use for same-day and after-hours care (including evenings and weekends). Our doctors treat a wide range of common illnesses and injuries that aren’t life-threatening, but can’t wait for a primary care appointment. Examples:

• Symptoms of flu, cold or COVID-19
• Stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
• Headache
• Rashes, skin problems, pinkeye
• Back or joint pain
• Urinary tract infections
• Medication questions
• Help deciding if you should go to urgent care or the emergency room

How to Access:

• Log into MyUCDavisHealth and select Schedule an Appointment > Express Care (On-Demand Video Visit). 
• Hours: Mon – Fri, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and Sat – Sun, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

This unique Sacramento clinic diagnoses and treats problems that need a higher level of care than Express Care, but not necessarily an ER visit or hospital stay. Designed to shorten your wait time for problems such as:

• Dehydration that requires IV fluids
• Skin infections that require IV antibiotics
• Moderate asthma flareups
• Other conditions requiring procedures or treatment beyond urgent care

• This clinic does not accept walk-ins. Patients must be referred by their primary care, Express Care, or ER provider, who will determine whether this clinic is appropriate. 
• Hours: Daily, closed holidays.
• Questions? Contact your provider or our nurse advice line. You can call your primary care clinic anytime day or night, and a member of our clinic staff or an advice nurse is always available.

Diagnoses and treats problems that are life-threatening or could lead to permanent disability. Some examples of symptoms that should lead you to go the nearest emergency room or call 911 include:

• Chest pain
• Breathing difficulty
• Sudden numbness or weakness
• Sudden or severe vision loss
• Trouble speaking
• Severe headache
• Active bleeding

In the emergency department, people with more serious illness or injuries may move ahead of you in line, a system known as triage.
